It was a quiet afternoon at home. Lala sat by the window, her little chin resting in her hands. She glanced at the clock, then at the door to CEO Kien’s office. Usually by this time, he would be outside playing with her, reading stories, or sharing snacks. But today, the door stayed closed.
Inside, CEO Kien was overwhelmed with paperwork and endless phone calls. He hadn’t even noticed Lala’s disappointed glances or her attempts to get his attention.
Lala tried to distract herself by playing with her toys, but it wasn’t the same without Kien’s laughter beside her. She picked up her drawing pad and began scribbling, her lines messier than usual. A small frown appeared on her face.
Eventually, Lala walked up to the office door and gently knocked. “Uncle Kien… are you done yet?”
Kien replied, “Not yet, sweetheart. Just a little longer, okay?”
That was the last straw. Lala pouted, tears welling in her eyes. She turned around and went back to her room, hugging her stuffed bunny tightly. “He doesn’t love me anymore…” she whispered.
Later that evening, Kien finally finished his work and realized how quiet the house had become. He looked for Lala and found her curled up, still holding her bunny. Seeing her sad little face broke his heart.
He gently picked her up and hugged her. “I’m so sorry, Lala. Work took too long today. But I promise, tomorrow is all yours.”
Lala sniffled but smiled a little. “Really?”
Kien nodded. “Really. We’ll do everything you want.”
And just like that, her eyes lit up again, and the lovely bond between them grew even stronger.
